Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce holds largest Legislative Day in Columbus

The chamber brought together over 200 regional business leaders, public officials and elected officials to the state capitol.

(Columbus, OH – May 1, 2024) – The Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Dayton Development Coalition, recently concluded its highly anticipated Legislative Day in Columbus, an event designed to foster dialogue between local business leaders and state policymakers. Tuesday’s event brought together key stakeholders to discuss critical issues impacting the business community and explore opportunities for collaboration.

The half-day event was sponsored longstanding chamber supporters: Taft Law and Charter Communications/Spectrum.

The day kicked off with a series of informative sessions featuring prominent speakers from the public and private sectors including:

  • Mike Duffey, Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor
  • Senator Rob McColley, Ohio Senate Majority Floor Leader
  • Kirk Herath, Cyber Security Strategic Advisor and Chairman at CyberOhio

Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to hear an insightful panel on “The Impact of AI in Politics.” The panel included Joseph Dooley, policy manager at Google and Michael Richards, director of policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Technology Engagement Center. The in-depth discussion was moderated by Devon Valencia, chief information officer at CareSource.

The event also provided a platform for participants to voice their perspectives and priorities directly to elected officials and policymakers.

The event culminated in a productive series of meetings with state legislators, where participants advocated for policies that promote business innovation, workforce development and a competitive business environment.
