Local Non-Profit, Good Neighbor House, Expands its Downtown Office

DAYTON, Ohio – Good Neighbor House, a non-profit organization focused on providing healthcare and food support in the Miami Valley to the uninsured, will host a ribbon cutting of its newly expanded facility on April 27, 2022.

Good Neighbor House just completed a 2,600 sq./ft. expansion at its location on East 1st Street in downtown Dayton. Choosing to expand rather than relocate will ensure that its clients will still be able to reach its facility.

Founded in 1994, Good Neighbor House (GNH) was established by a group of Seventh – Day Adventist churches to support the community’s need for dental & medical care, counseling & wellness services, and food assistance. GNH is guided by a Board of Directors consisting of both local church members and community volunteers.

The expansion project will create six medical exam rooms in its new wing, with the two ‘old’ exam rooms becoming part of the remodeled dental area, thereby increasing the available bays from four to six. Other additions include updated wellness/physical therapy rooms and pharmaceutical dispensary space, a remodeled food pantry, and improvements to the offices and server room. All of this will help expand the access to care by improving the ability to serve a larger number of clients and continue its mission to provide high quality health care to those in need.

“This new medical wing is part of our larger goal which is to continue to empower our community by providing quality health care and nutritional assistance to those underserved in the Miami Valley. Our expansion project and new programs only mean to increase our capacity to do just that,” said Michelle Collier, CEO, Good Neighbor House.

The Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to facilitate a ribbon cutting for Good Neighbor House’s new location, where members of the media and invited guests will be provided a tour of the new medical clinic wing. These tours will provide guests an opportunity to meet with the staff and volunteers and hear about the work they do and how they might be able to help. Masks are strongly encouraged but not required. This will be an outdoor event with the option to take a guided tour through the new wing after the ceremony.
