Funded in part by American Express, Main Street America conducted an online survey in late March 2020 to assess the impact of COVID-19 on the approximately 300,000 small businesses across the nonprofit’s network. Main Street America is a grassroots network made up of small towns, mid-sized communities, and urban commercial districts that focuses on preservation-based economic development and community revitalization across the country.
The COVID-19 survey was designed to help us understand small businesses’ ability to withstand what may be several months of suppressed revenue and what kids of support programs will have the most impact. The survey garnered a response from more than 5,850 small business owners.
